In 2008, Valdosta Early College Academy (VECA) was founded with a powerful mission: to create a "bridge to college" for students with the drive to succeed. As a dual-enrollment program with Valdosta State University, our students take real college courses, earning credits and invaluable experience long before they graduate high school.
The Challenge
Bridging the Digital Divide
Our students are bright, ambitious, and ready to work. But to succeed in college-level courses, they need college-level tools. Many of our families cannot afford the essential technology—like laptops, tablets, and scientific calculators—required for advanced academic work. We knew we had to bridge this gap.
Our Solution
A Partnership in Pecans
Our annual Holiday Pecan Sale was born from this need. We partnered with a local institution, the South Georgia Pecan Company, to provide our community with the highest-quality pecans for their holiday gifting.
We made a simple promise: 100% of the profits from this sale will go directly to our students. Not to a general fund, but specifically to purchase the technology and tools they need to excel.
